Philadelphia based drummer Erik Kaszynski was introduced to percussion through his middle school music program. Performing in school bands, he had the opportunity to explore different instruments, eventually taking off with marching and jazz band.
Erik has studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music in Holland. While at Berklee, he performed with many local acts around the Boston area. While experiencing the rich diversity of the local music scene, Erik played a multitude of genres such as jazz, blues, rock, and world beat music. After graduating, he began touring nationally and internationally. In his many years of recording and performing, Erik has shared studio and stage with the likes of Tinsley Ellis, Duke Robillard, Tommy Castro, Coco Montoya, Tommy Talton, Yonrico Scott, Mike Zito, Mike Welch, Los Lobos, Eddie Kirkland, Jimmy Carpenter, Doug “Mr Low” James, Debbi Davies, Bob Margolin, Albert Castiglia, Joe Sublett, and The Tams.
After 13 years of national and international tours together, Tinsley Ellis and Erik have parted ways. Tinsley’s move toward solo acoustic music was timely as Erik was looking to start a Masters in Music Therapy program.
In addition to his touring schedule, Erik is also an educator, with over 3 decades of teaching private instruction as well as leading group classes and workshops.
